Echo Lounge ~ 9/6/2012

My very first crane was folded and placed at the Echo Lounge in Rustic, Colorado on September 6th, 2012. It hangs on the wall behind the bar, transcribed with the Haiku I wrote to signify my adventure and the crane's significance to me. The Haiku:

Made by Alicia
They fly in many places
Each a piece of soul

Rustic, Colorado is about an hour west of Fort Collins, Colorado on Highway 14 in the amazingly beautiful Poudre Canyon. I was on a writing retreat with four fellow writers, and we visited the Echo Lounge every night of our stay to cap off the day's worth of creativity.

On the night of September 8th, 2012, I placed my second crane. I made it out of a sugar pack, so it is very tiny. I pushed its tail into a groove in the wood above our booth, and there it stayed.

It may still be there. I think of it, resting silently on that wall, a stone witness of all who pass through. I wonder how many times someone will look upon it and point it out to others, and I wonder how many times it will go unnoticed. Hopefully, I will see it again someday, and it will bring me memories of that wonderful weekend and my first hidden cranes.
